The maximum effective range of engagement in X ammunition is limited by:
- Geography - How far can you see?
- Lethality - Up to what range will the penetrator still have the necessary velocity to defeat modern X armour?
It has been argued that under battlefield conditions, kill probability with X ammunition may be much lower than expected, partly because of occasion to occasion variations of the MPI. I have for a long time been concerned that the Pass/Fail criteria for X ammunition used for the calibration of modern tanks has been based upon consistency rather than accuracy.
The main use of data collection in the early stages of your training will be to produce objective performance data. This data will be used in conjunction with the customer to assess the relative effectiveness of the training delivered in meeting the objectives that you have set. Using data-mining techniques, Bournemouth University and SafeAim Ltd will:
- Predict performance, determine weaknesses and strengths and identify any training gaps.
- Refine and focus future training on the basis of the analysis of the objective performance data collected.
